Officer Benjamin Elliott Honored

11/26/2014 – The Council honored Officer Benjamin Elliott with a proclamation for protecting event patrons, staff and volunteers from an individual with a dangerous weapon.

Officer Elliott was working security at Oktoberfest when he was advised an individual had dropped a gun on the ground. Officer Elliott approached the suspect and saw the outline of a pistol on the suspect’s person. The officer put his hand over the weapon, preventing the suspect from drawing it and took him into custody. Officer Elliott searched the suspect and found several bags of marijuana, as well as the weapon.

Officer Elliott responded quickly and in a manner that protected Oktoberfest patrons, staff and volunteers. He demonstrated the courage and professionalism expected of a member of the Tulsa Police Department.
