Each December, Tulsa Police officers deliver gas cards, groceries, diapers, and essentials directly to others in need – funded by the Tulsa Police Foundation and its generous donors. The Tulsa Police Foundation proudly supported the Tulsa Police Special Operations Team as they hosted the 18th Annual Oklahoma SWAT Competition at the Tulsa Police Training Division. More than ten teams from across the state competed in five demanding challenges—testing firearm precision, physical fitness, teamwork, and tactical decision-making.
The Tulsa Police Foundation provided 10 rifle-rated ballistic shields—each over 31 lbs and roughly $8,000 a piece—to Tulsa Police. These shields protect officers during high-caliber and active-shooter responses, helping them reach victims and end threats more safely. With at least 13 shields now in use, patrols are better protected citywide.
Our event proceeds helped TPD acquire the M-Vac DNA collection system—a first in Oklahoma. In April 2025, TPD began training on the device, which recovers trace DNA from porous or textured items swabs often miss—accelerating cold-case work and giving families long-awaited answers.
When tragedy struck in June 2020—taking the life of Sergeant Craig Johnson and leaving Officer Aurash Zarkeshan critically injured—Tulsa united in grief and action. The Tulsa Police Foundation led a citywide effort in partnership with KRMG raising more than $600,000 for their families. It was a powerful reminder that in Tulsa, even in the darkest moments, compassion and solidarity shine through.
In partnership with Shield616 and local philanthropies, TPD officers received full ballistic armor packages—helmets, rifle plates, vests, and trauma kits—boosting protection on the most dangerous calls. Programs like this ensure gear is replaced on schedule and remains mission-ready.
