A Holiday Stop She’ll Never Forget

When flashing lights filled her rearview mirror, Trina Bevenue’s heart sank. “Oh, I just knew I was going to get a ticket for something,” she recalled. Instead, Officer Kyle Beck and Foundation Chairman Roger Chasteen stepped up with a surprise: a smoked ham and a $50 gas card for her family.

“All I could do was cry,” Bevenue said, explaining that her car had been wrecked, her family was living in a motel, and the holidays felt out of reach. The gift meant food on the table—and hope in a hard season.

Throughout the day, officers pulled over families not to penalize, but to provide. “We’re just looking for that right family with that right need and then giving that gift,” Chasteen explained. For Bevenue, the gesture could not have come at a better time. “It’s so hard to get any help now-a-days… and they just pulled us over to give us something, not a ticket. It’s really appreciated.”

This is the heart of Random Acts of Kindness—meeting families in their moment of need, building trust, and reminding Tulsa that compassion still drives community.
